But one of the most hushed up policy changes in history has just taken place -- Government has cut the Island's colonial shackles.

And come July Bermudians will be able to wave a truly national flag in celebration.

At least, that is, according to the Barbados-printed magazine, `Caribbean Tourism Today'.

In a recent edition, the mag carried a calendar of festivals and cultural and sporting activities.

And under July 4 for Bermuda, it stated: "Independence Day celebrations.'' Yesterday the magazine's associate editor Ms Indra Cabral held up her hands.

"Yes, I admit it's misleading. We were referring to the American Independence Day. We will carry a clarification in the next issue.''
