Actor allegedly robbed on tour

But one member of the group told The Royal Gazette that one of the main characters in the department's show was robbed at gunpoint in the middle of their trip to the Caribbean island.
"Somebody in the group got robbed at gunpoint,'' said a performer, who did not want to be identified. "They didn't give us many details because they didn't want the kids to worry.'' The member said the robbery took place in the Candyio hotel where they were staying and said he believed the culprit made off with a lot of money.
Yesterday, a hotel worker -- who wished to remain anonymous -- confirmed that a member of the Bermudian entourage was robbed during their stay.
"The owner of the hotel said it was their fault because they were flashing around their jewellery and money,'' the cast member recalled. "And the (St.
Lucia) tourism people claimed it was not a big deal and said incidents like that happened everywhere.
Yesterday Youth and Sport Director Anthony Roberts said he was in the process of being briefed about the trip.
"I'm just waiting to receive a report on the trip,'' he said.
Participants in the 12th annual road show entitled `Rags to Riches', written and produced by Patricia Pogson, left Bermuda on August 10 for St. Lucia.
Ms Pogson declined to comment on the incident.
