Youngsters impress again

Three of them -- John Masters, Gavin Manders and Ashley Brooks -- saw off number five seeds in their respective draws in the prestigious junior event in Atlanta.

Masters brushed aside Will Bickelhaup 6-0, 6-1 in the boys 12 singles, while Manders enjoyed nearly as a comprehensive victory in the boys 14 singles, as he crushed Rich Pugh 6-2, 6-2.

Brooks prevailed in an epic match against Madelaine Brown, finally triumphing 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 to reach the last eight of the girls 12 singles.

Kris Frick defeated Mark Lange 6-4, 6-3 in the boys 12 singles, while Sasha Fisher advanced in the girls 14 singles with a 6-4, 6-2 win against Mallory Perkins.

The girls 14 doubles will feature two Bermuda pairs in the semi-finals after sisters Kara and Sasha Fisher and Brooks with Zoe Fisher won their quarter-finals. Masters and Frick progressed to the boys 12 doubles quarter-finals, but Manders and Kyle Williams went down 9-7 in the boys 14 doubles round of 16.
