Former Cup Match stars in charity game
amenities committee have organised a fun day at Southampton Oval this Sunday, featuring a cricket match between St. Brendan's Posse and Southampton Rangers.
Included in the hospital squad will be former Cup Match and Southampton players John Tucker, Eldon Raynor, Lloyd Raynor and Quinton Sherlock.
The event is the brainchild of Richard Hill, himself a former cricketer who now works as a nurses' aide at the Devonshire institution.
Linda Trott, chairperson of the amenities committee, said the event would be the first of many fund-raising functions.
"This is to be the initial event to get the account off the ground,'' said Trott. "We just want to build up this account so that our clients have somewhere to go on vacation, whether it be local or abroad.
"There are several facilities that our clients can go to and we would like them to have access to those facilities.'' The limited overs match -- 35 overs -- starts at 1.00 p.m. In addition there will be several activities for children.
