A CedarBridge Academy security guard was injured after attempting to break up a fight.

Principal Ernest Payette last night confirmed that a school guard had been hurt while trying to break up a scuffle in one of the school's hallways.

The incident began when a ruckus erupted between some girls yesterday afternoon.

Mr. Payette said a "gentleman'' became involved in the upheaval and when a security guard went to break things up, he got hurt.

The guard reportedly sustained a cut and went to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The guard returned to the school later in the afternoon.

Mr. Payette said he was interviewing students in a bid to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

He declined to give further comment on the matter until he obtained all the facts.
