Lambert to lead BLTA for record fifth term
Association president for a record fifth term.
Lambert will be unopposed when he stands for a second successive year in the top post in the governing body of tennis at this evening's BLTA annual general meeting.
Also unopposed will be vice-president Terry Smith and secretary Airlie Arton.
But there will be a new treasurer, as Julie Lunn is standing down and will be replaced by the unopposed Sarah Cook.
The fact that the slate of executive members will be unopposed appears to be a vote of confidence from clubs and BLTA members after an excellent year for the sport, which included a Davis Cup promotion, the best-ever results in the Fed Cup with an all-teenage team and a fourth-place finish for Bermuda at the Caribbean Under-14 Championships.
"It's very exciting for me to be able to serve a fifth term as BLTA president,'' said Lambert, who is also director of tennis at Elbow Beach.
"The most rewarding thing, for me, is to see different programmes, which started as an idea, become reality.'' And he gave credit to the team around him at the BLTA who helped to make last year successful.
Tonight's AGM will start at 5.45 p.m. at the BLTA offices in the Government Tennis Stadium.
