Driver runs up catalogue of offences
yesterday.
Fifteen-year-old Jason Lionel Furbert, of Vaucrossons Crescent, pleaded guilty to the charges of driving while impaired, driving while disqualified due to his age, obstructing an officer, driving in a manner dangerous and failing to stop for an officer.
Crown counsel Graveney Bannister said Furbert was seen speeding up St. John's Road travelling in an opposite direction to them.
They pursued him as they saw him cross the centre line, nearly colliding with them.
Furbert led Police on a wild chase through the Pembroke area eventually ending up on Berkeley Road where he collided with a stone wall.
He then discarded his vehicle and ran off on foot with Police close behind.
They finally caught up with him on a private property.
Furbert continued to resist capture, grabbing the edge of a cliff overlooking a ten-foot drop to free himself.
When asked why he ran from Police, Furbert replied: "I'm under-age.'' Magistrate Archibald Warner adjourned the trial for two months pending a social inquiry.
Furbert is scheduled to return to Magistrates' Court for sentencing on April 18.
