Visitor arrivals keep dropping

Weekly statistics compiled by Government show another fall last week in people arriving by air and by cruise ship.

The figures show 10,840 people arrived at the airport compared with 11,345 for the same time last year. Numbers arriving by cruise ship fell from 6,482 last year to 5,895.

Overall the fall in the number of visitors was 6.3 percent. It is almost certain figures for next week will show a further decline due to the cancellation of the Royal Majesty .

Figures have also been compiled showing the number of visitors to the Island for the year to date.

Up until June 11, 156,140 people arrived by air, a fall of more than 10,000 over the same time in 1994. The number of passengers on cruise ships also fell by 2,535 to 47,211.

Overall, the Government figures show that from January 1 a total of 203,539 people visited Bermuda -- a drop of 7,770, or 3.6 percent on the same period last year.
