The Best rating of Legion Insurance Company has been upgraded from A- to A (Excellent). Legion had approximately $85 million of policyholders' surplus at March 31, 1995.

Commenting on the improved rating in a joint statement, chairman Mr. Robert Mulderig and president Mr. John Kessock said: "Legion Insurance Company's ratings are central to the effective marketing of Mutual Risk's alternative market services.

"The upgrading of the A.M. Best rating will improve our ability to attract clients into the alternative market. Clients using Legion as part of an alternative market insurance programme can be confident that they are dealing with a well capitalised and stable insurer.'' The A.M. Best rating cites the continued profitability of Legion, its conservative investment portfolio and satisfactory leverage as reasons for the rating upgrade.

Mutual Risk Management Ltd. provides risk management services to clients in the US, Canada and Europe seeking alternatives to traditional commercial insurance for certain of their risk exposures, especially workers' compensation.
