Charges dropped against man lost at sea
two others, was lost at sea earlier this year.
Acting Magistrate the Wor. Charles-Etta Simmons and prosecutor Insp. Peter Duffy sat waiting in court yesterday for Geaige Minks to show up.
Minks was scheduled to be tried for assault with bodily harm.
He pleaded not guilty last October to the offence which was alleged to have occurred on October 9.
But Minks, and his two friends, brothers Randy and Jeffrey Outerbridge, were last seen on January 26 when they sat out for a fishing trip on the 21-foot Cutty Cabin Simply Red .
The trio were heading towards Challenger Banks when they last contacted Harbour Radio.
The following day a storm battered Bermuda and local waters with strong winds and high seas.
Despite a massive air and sea search the men were not found. But the boat, belonging to Randy Outerbridge, was found about two weeks later "in remarkably good condition'' some 50 miles east of Bermuda.
Yesterday, after making inquiries, Insp. Duffy told Mrs. Simmons that Minks was one of the men missing on Simply Red . "Needless to say, Police are offering no evidence,'' he said.
