Village on the move
Inspired by newcomer Lionel Cann, North Village moved into second place in the First Division with this emphatic victory over Devonshire Cougars on Monday.
Cann, who joined Village this season from St. David's, scored the first goal, set up the second and then netted the fourth.
Cann's header from a Jamal Smith corner made it 1-0 after nine minutes and Jemeiko Jennings increased the lead after 33 minutes.
Cougars had their share of misfortune with Sheldon Caisey hitting the bar twice. Spearheaded by skipper Wali Salaam in midfield, Cougars showed promise early in the second half but their best chance came when Salaam's 22-yard free kick was tipped over by keeper Nyon Steede who was hampered by a leg strain for the final 45 minutes.
But Cougars were unable to take advantage of Steede's limitations and allowed Village to hit back with two quick goals with centre-back Michael Hansey and Cann scoring after 71 and 73 minutes.
Substitute Clevie Campbell pulled one back for Cougars after 84 minutes before substitute Cal Dill got Village's fifth five minutes from time.
