Island.

Less than a year after opening Ord Road Laundromat, in Warwick, Mr. Davis has opened another one at Heron Bay, Southampton.

He already has majority stakes in two others, the West End Laundry, in Somerset, and Pembroke Laundromat, in Pembroke, on which his empire was founded five years ago.

"We found we had to expand in order to remain attractive,'' said Mr. Davis.

"We've retained our earnings and most of the money we have taken in is reinvested in the business. That's what we've done over the last five years.'' Mr. Davis has invested heavily in the latest equipment, which includes having reverse osmosis plants serve two of his sites to convert sea water into potable water.

"We are producing high quality, softer water which is ideal for washing,'' he said. "We are doing everything we can to provide an excellent, first-rate service.'' Heron Bay Laundry is located at the Marketplace Plaza, in Southampton. Mr.

Davis owns it with his wife Amatullah Bashir, and his parents, although there is a different ownership composition for his other laundromats.

The business is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on week days and from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends.
