Olympians do battle at home
Craig Morbey -- will be in action tonight when the 17th Annual Harbour Amateur Swimming Club Open Championships get under way at the BASA Pool.
They will face strong competition from three overseas clubs -- Atlanta Dynamo, fresh from their junior nationals; Monmouth Barracudas of New Jersey; and Canada's Region of Waterloo.
The heats of the competition will be swum tonight and tomorrow night, with the finals scheduled for Saturday.
In a busy week for the swimming fraternity, Sunday's Trunk Island Swim, sponsored by the Triangle Swim Club, will prove a major test of stamina.
The race gets under way at 2 p.m from Trunk Island in Harrington Sound. The finish line is at the Palmetto Hotel in Flatts.
Next Monday, action returns to the BASA Pool with a relay meet pitting the best of the visitors against the best of Bermuda.
The local swimmers will be keen to turn the tables on the visitors, who have triumphed twice in the last three years.
