US couple to help youth hone their literary skills
their would-be trades at workshops sponsored by the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs.
Writer Mr. Stuart Browne and wife Ms Kathryn Pogson of London will conduct the classes from May 28 to June 19.
Mr. Browne teaches at the New York University Film School and is the resident playwright at the Mercury Theatre in Colchester, England.
He is also a guest lecturer in play writing at Marymount College in London and runs Scriptwriters Tutorials, a successful private tutorial company.
Mr. Browne will conduct the script writing workshop, in which all of the essential elements of dramatic writing for radio, television, stage and screen will be explored. He is planning to conduct lectures and practical writing exercises. As classes progress, students will be asked to read aloud their own scripts for critique and discussion.
Space is limited to two groups of 12, and you must be 16 years of age or older. Previous writing experience is not required.
The script writing classes will be held on Saturdays and Sundays at Bermuda College.
Ms Pogson will conduct the acting classes, in which students will concentrate on identifying, exploring and building characters.
Ms Pogson has credits in stage, television and feature films including `Brazil' and `The Company of Wolves'. She teaches private acting classes in addition to teaching at the Lee Strasberg Actor's Studio, Marymount College, New York University, and the Women's Playhouse Trust in London.
