A spokesman for the Johns Hopkins Bayview burns unit said last night that Carlton Perinchief, 37, was in a critical condition.

Mr. Perinchief was taken to the Baltimore hospital shortly after the incident at his Crew View Road apartment on August 16.

The Smith's Parish resident suffered burns on most of his body, was transferred to the US after first being taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

A Police investigation into the incident is still on-going.
