But traffic on the roads around Flatts Inlet remains the primary concern of area residents and businesses.

On the water, Bermuda Bell Diving will be directing eco-tour canoe/kayak tours in the Harrington Sound and plans are afoot which may result in a 45-foot yacht sailing out of the village. Meanwhile the Flatts business group has pumped some $20,000 into an advertising campaign in the hotel magazine Vacation Bermuda with the idea of promoting the village as a destination -- not just a single entity.

And value added/discount packages in conjunction with the Bermuda Museum, Aquarium and Zoo are being devised to entice shopping and things to do in the Flatts Path to History.

The main topic of a recent meeting moderated over by Flatts Development Committee chairman Richard Winchell was speedy, noisy traffic.

People at the meeting called for humps, bumps and other traffic calming measures to be taken on the village's roads.

Transport Minister Wayne Furbert, who attended the meeting, stressed that "Government would support anything where safety was concerned''.
