Trophy maker expands business

For Mr. Lee Uddin is expanding his part-time interest in trophy making and employing a full-time boss for his firm, to be called Montgomeryshire Crystal.

Mr. Uddin, 34, said: "There is definitely a gap in the market here and I hope we can fill it.

"We are not fully operational as I would like to see it and I don't have time to run the business every day.'' London-born Mr. Uddin, who works for a wholesale company, has already created trophies in crystal, made to the customers' specifications in his father's workshops in Wales.

Customers have included a member of the Dubai Royal Family, who ordered a three-foot high crystal trophy for a horse race, the Bermuda Police and several sports organisations.

But now -- with an advert for a managing director for the firm placed -- it is hoped to expand the firm's operations.

Mr. Uddin said: "As we get bigger, we would hope that there would be opportunities to employ other people.

"We've got lots of ideas -- we'd like eventually to start making the crystal here in Bermuda, but that all depends how things go.''
