The conference is for chief officers of Police and heads of drug enforcement agencies in North and South America and the Caribbean.

In a prepared statement, Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning said: "The Commissioner considers drug enforcement, which is addressed in the Bermuda Police Service's strategy, to be of prime importance and it is hoped the knowledge gained from the conference may be useful in the fight against drugs.'' It will run from October 9 until October 13.

TEENAGER FINED FOR POSSESSING DRUGS CTS Teenager fined for possessing drugs Possessing less than half a gram of cannabis cost a 16-year-old a $100 fine.

Marcel William Moniz, of Cedar Hill, Warwick, pleaded guilty this week in Magistrates' Court to possessing 0.42 grams of cannabis.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant said narcotics officers approached Moniz, who was with a group of men in Warwick, on June 7.

The officers noticed Moniz looked nervous and searched him, Sgt. Grant said.

Officers found a yellow envelope in his underwear. Inside the envelope they found the cannabis.

Moniz told Acting Senior Magistrate the Wor. Edward King: "I'm sorry about that your honour. It won't happen again.'' PAGEANT ORGANISER PLEAD NOT GUILTY CTS Pageant organiser pleads not guilty The organiser of the Miss Bermuda Islands beauty pageant this week denied charges of driving while impaired.

Terry L. Smith, 34, of Pompano Road Southampton, pleaded not guilty in Magistrates' Court to driving on Harbour Road Paget on September 19 while impaired, and refusing to give a breath sample.

However, Smith pleaded guilty to driving without a licence.

Smith, who is represented by lawyer Miss Victoria Pearman, was ordered to return to court for his trial on March 5.

LOCKED MOTORBIKE INDOORS STILL STOLEN CRM Locked motorbike indoors still stolen Even locking up a motorbike inside their home was not enough to prevent thieves stealing a couple's bike.

Between Sunday evening and Monday morning someone broke into the couple's home, on Harrington Sound Road, Smith's Parish, and stole the motorbike.

According to Police, more people are beginning to lock bikes inside their homes to prevent them from being stolen.

A Police spokesman said: "If your cycle is left inside a house continue to use the double locking systems on the cycle. Don't make it easy for the thief.'' THREE ARRESTED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT CTS Three arrested for sexual assault Three teenaged boys have been arrested and are helping Police with their inquiries into an alleged sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl.

East End detectives are investigating a report that the teenaged girl was assaulted on school grounds last Friday lunchtime, at around 12.30 p.m.

It is understood the alleged assault happened on the sports field of a school which cannot be identified for legal reasons. Police investigations are continuing.

POLICE TRY TO LOCATE MISSING YOUTHS POL Police try to locate missing youths Police are appealing for the public's assistance in locating two youths who have been missing from the Youth Development Centre since last Saturday.

Keijon Steede, 13, is described as dark skinned, four-feet, 11-inches tall with a stocky build. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt with long light coloured shorts.

Wendell Tucker, 15, is described as light skinned, 5-feet, 2-inches, with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts.

WOMAN HURT IN `DOMESTIC' DISPUTE CRM Woman hurt in `domestic' dispute A domestic dispute landed a 22-year-old woman in King Edward Vll Hospital.

Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning said the woman and a male acquaintance were involved in a heated argument on Monday evening when he allegedly hit her over the head with a glass candlestick.

The woman required several stitches for a head wound.

Inquiries into the incident were continuing.
