Artist to speak on gouache technique
Painting With Gouche at today's Lunch-time lecture at the Bermuda National Gallery from 12.30 to 1.30 p.m.
Mr. Finch will also be giving two workshops at the Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard. The first, `Beginner's Gouache Techniques takes place from Monday, December 9 through Wednesday, December 11 and `Follow-Up Gouche Techniques' on Friday, December 13 through Sunday, December 15. Explaining that gouache is a watercolour medium used for obtaining opaque effects, detailing, glazing, colour depth and tints, Mr. Finch will teach step-by-step technique.
Born in Switzerland, John Finch studied art at Fray's College near London, but pursued a career in engineering design. Now retired and living in the Isle of Wight, he has become a full-time artist, painting marine, seascapes and landscapes. He hosts painting holidays at his home overlooking scenic Freshwater Bay. He is also well known for his aviation and railway subjects.
