Tyco International makes and installs fire protection systems. Sigma, based in Santa Clara, California, has estimated 1998 revenue of $98 million.

Sigma will become a part of the Tyco Printed Circuit Group in Stafford, Connecticut. Tyco said it will begin taking an offer to buy all of Sigma's 5.5 million shares outstanding for $10.50 each directly to Sigma shareholders.
