company, Monday reported encouraging results from various sources.

According to Bloomberg business news service, results from three of the company's copper prospects in northwest New South Wales, Australia, and at its Ramu Joint Venture nickel and cobalt project in Papua New Guinea have continued to provide positive and encouraging results.

Nord Pacific's joint venture partner, Highlands Gold Ltd., has spent (Aus) $920,000 on an aggressive drilling programme, metallurgical testing and engineering studies to advance the project to feasibility.

Nord Pacific's president, Dr. Pierce Carson, said detailed analysis to quantify leachable copper on suitable samples has commenced and that study and calculations are planned to begin in December to evaluate the potential of extending the life of the Girilambone mine, located in New South Wales and 40 percent owned by Nord, beyond 1999.

The company's share of production at its Girilambone mine was 1,032 tonnes of LME grade A copper during the September quarter. The expansions should result in an expansion of copper output to over 15,000 tonnes per year.

For the quarter ended June 30, Nord reported net earnings of US$ 1.33 million compared to a loss of US$2.2 million in the second quarter of 1993.

Nord Pacific was incorporated in Bermuda six years ago and is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange as well as NASDAQ.
