Society of Arts calls for best photos

The opening of the Bermuda Society of Arts 22nd Annual Members Photographic show will take place on Friday, January 16, in the Main Gallery, from 5 p.m.

to 8 p.m.

Photographers Marshall DeCouto, Mark Emmerson and Roland Skinner have agreed to be the local jurors.

The Board of Governors take great pleasure in inviting both professional and non-professional photographers to submit up to ten works of art into the show.

The categories are best in show, best colour, best black and white, best junior, best portfolio (comprises of six works), best underwater, and the Johnny Skinner Cup for photojournalism.

This year the gallery has revived the awarding of trophies for each category and these are offered to non-professional entries only.

If anyone would like to offer a cup or trophy, or contribute to a special fund, which in future years may be given to the category of best professional photographer contact the Bermuda Society of Arts.

Also on the night of the exhibit there will be a slide presentation by Nicholas Lusher on the photographic work of Karl Struss, a Steiglitz-circle photographer, who worked in Bermuda from 1912 to 1914 and again, it is thought, in 1950.
