Gibbons to speak
annual prize giving ceremony scheduled for 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Bermuda Cathedral.
Dr. Gibbons is both a Saltus "old boy'' and parent of a current Saltus student and has been asked to share his personal experiences in making his own educational and career choices with the school's 450 assembled senior students.
In addition to making his speech, Dr. Gibbons will assist headmaster Trevor Rowell and Board Chairman James Amos with the senior school's annual awards for academic achievement and endeavour.
*** The Menuhin Foundation of Bermuda will be presenting a chamber music concert on Wednesday November 6 at Government House at 7.30 p.m.
The concert will be given by the teaching staff of the Menuhin Foundation and all proceeds will go to the Menuhin Foundation Teachers' Scholarship, a scholarship formed last year for advanced Menuhin Foundation students.
The performers are Alison Johnstone, Diane Hamilton, Sarah Bridgland, Kate Fraser, Rebecca Leetch, Kerry Haslam, and Suzanne Dunkerley.
The programme is varied to suit all tastes and includes a Beethoven String Quartet (opus 18 no.8) Pachelbel's Canon, and Gershwin's I Got Rhythm.
Tickets are priced at $40, wine and hors d'oeuvres included, and can be obtained from any Menuhin Foundation teacher or by calling Alison Johnstone (teacher-in-charge) at 295-2510.
