Lord Waddington set to leave today
and Lady Waddington will this afternoon say farewell to the Island.
About 600 invited guests will gather on the Cabinet Building's front lawn anticipating the 4 p.m. arrival of Lord and Lady Waddington en route from Government House by landau.
The parade route from Government House includes Langton Hill, St. John's Road, Woodlands Road and Par-la-Ville Road, then on to the Cabinet Office on Front Street.
This evening, Lord and Lady Waddington will travel by Daimler to the Airport where they will board a British Airways flight bound for London. A small group of dignitaries will see them off.
During the official farewell at the Cabinet Building, Premier Pamela Gordon will make a short speech followed by farewell words from Lord Waddington.
The ceremony also includes the Bermuda Regiment Guard of Honour and band forming up for inspection.
As Lord Waddington departs, the band will perform a royal salute and the gun troop will sound a 17 gun salute from Fort Hamilton.
In case of inclement weather, the parade will be cancelled and the departure ceremony will be held in the Harbour Room at No. 1 shed.
Bermuda's new Governor, appointed by the Queen and approved by Bermuda's Government, is John Thorold Masefield, a diplomat from the UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office, whose last posting was High Commissioner to Nigeria.
