Mangrove Bay ferry stop backers hopeful
stop in the West End.
A meeting is on the cards for the Sandys Action Group to discuss the possible relocation of the Watford Bridge ferry stop to Mangrove Bay.
The idea has been on the books for 16 years and businessmen in the area believe it could spark a trade revival by depositing visitors directly into the area, rather than heading straight to Dockyard.
Sandys North MPs Dennis Lister and Eugene Cox have joined the battle in a bid to get the relocation on the agenda again.
PLP Deputy Leader Eugene Cox met with business representatives this week and said they were now taking the plan under active consideration.
He said they wanted to gather more information relevant to the issue, before making any decisions on future action.
Businessmen in the area believe the relocation could help revitalise the area and even offered to fund the building of the dock themselves.
Robin Joell, spokesman for the Mangrove Bay businessmen, didn't want to comment specifically on the progress but said things were starting to move.
