Board chairman Garry Madeiros declined to release the name before it was reviewed by the Cabinet.

But he told The Royal Gazette the board planned to submit the name by the end of the month and hoped the name would be accepted.

"We've been taking our time to ensure that we give as much thought to it so it will not be overly controversial,'' Mr. Madeiros said, noting the board realised there will be objectors and supporters to any name.

The board launched a contest for the school name in public schools last October.

Students were encouraged to get their parents and neighbours involved in the name selection and to submit a paragraph in support of their proposed name.

After a poor response, the board went back to schools to give students a second chance.

But after still not receiving suitable responses the board decided to come up with a name on its own.

When contacted this week, Education Minister Jerome Dill said he had not yet seen the name suggested by the school board.
