Stars roll over social

Champions Western Stars made short work of Social Club in the first round of the Central Counties Cup at St. John's field on Saturday.

Opening bowler Roger Leverock took four for 18 from 10 overs to orchestrate the challengers' downfall then Gregory Sampson and Hasan Durham saw off the runs with the minimum of incident.

Social Club skipper Webster Mills top-scored with 11 from 19 balls while Cory Berkeley had the longest hit -- 59 minutes -- in making 10 runs.

Skipper Gary Brangman assisted Leverock by taking three for 27 from 10 overs while Allan Brangman took two for 16 from 6.1 and Arnold Manders one for one from seven.

Durham made 24 not out while Sampson continued his good form with 38 not out.

Sampson hit five fours and Durham three.

Stars host Police in the next round on Saturday and the winners play Devonshire Rec. in the final on June 12.
