The 28-year-old aluminium technician was forced to step up to the task after his fiancee Tahirah Hill went into labour during the early hours.

The couple were preparing to make their way to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital when events overtook them.

When they realised the baby was about to make an entrance, the couple called 911, but just moments later their tiny bundle of joy came into the world.

Yesterday, an elated Mr. Burrows, of My Lord's Bay Lane in Hamilton Parish, said he still could not believe what had happened.

"I called for an ambulance, but just minutes later, out she jumped. It was unbelievable.'' said Mr. Burrows.

"She was born into her daddy's arms and looked beautiful. I was quite scared, but to be honest we didn't have a lot of time to think about it. Tahirah was fine.

"I was on the phone to 911 throughout because I was worried that there could be complications. They talked us through it. Fortunately, everything went smoothly.

"We were very lucky. God was very good to us on Sunday.'' Little Jordan Gabrielle was born weighing six pounds, seven ounces at 5.45 a.m.

The family were taken to the hospital and both mother and baby are due out today.

Yesterday, a very laid-back Tahirah said she was feeling fine.

The 20-year-old, who also has a three-and-a-half year-old son Krishun, said: "The labour was very quick. It was all over in less than two hours.

"I know they say your second labour is easier and quicker, but we never expected it to happen that fast.

"My contractions just seemed to be happening much more quickly. They got to every 20 seconds in no time.

"I was very relieved when she arrived safely.

"I think they (the ambulance men) were shocked, too, when they got here. They weren't expecting that the baby would arrive without them.'' And of her fiance, she said she was very proud.

She added: "He did very well.'' A spokeswoman for the hospital's maternity ward said yesterday: "Mother, baby and daddy are all doing fine.'' The baby is also Mr. Burrow's second child, although little Jordan is the couple's first. He also has a three-and-a-half year-old son named Jasai.
