Cabbie's eyes burned in attack by passenger
something into them.
The driver was flagged down by a group of five youths by the City Hall parking lot at 1 a.m. yesterday.
He took the group to Admiralty House where he tried to help them find a house they were looking for.
Unable to find the house, he drove them back to the junction with Spanish Point Road and stopped the taxi.
The young man in the passenger's seat got out of the taxi, but one of the men in the backseat leaned forward and sprayed a substance into the driver's face.
The substance temporarily blinded the victim and he was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was treated for burns to the cornea of both eyes.
The taxi driver was released from the hospital, but it is not known whether the assault caused permanent eye damage.
One of the youths was described as light brown-skinned with moustache and twists in his hair, about five-feet, nine-inches tall and wearing an army-fatigue type jacket.
