Albert P. Simons, of Malabar Road, was told by Magistrate the Wor. Cheryl Ann Mapp that his record was "ridiculous''.

She told him: "You need professional help. There are no two ways about it.'' Sgt. Earl Kirby, prosecuting, said Simons was seen masturbating behind a wall as he watched a woman on Victoria Street on March 18.

Police were called to the scene shortly after the incident, which occurred around 2.30 p.m.

They found him "replacing himself inside his trousers'', and arrested him, added Sgt. Kirby.

Sgt. Kirby went on to recount some of the 29-year-old's past convictions.

Simons told Mrs. Mapp he had a job and children and was getting help from his father.

Simons was bailed, and the case adjourned for two weeks pending a social inquiry.
