St. George's the place to bring in New Year
the place as local entertainers will be throwing a party.
The party, organised by the St. George's Activities Committee, will begin at 7 p.m., and even though it is in its sixth year it still promises to be fun.
The Mayor of St. George's the Wor. Henry Hayward said there will be live music King's Square provided by local entertainers including Soca acts by Legacy.
He added the crowd will also be entertained between sets by "New Jak'' -- three brothers who are disc jockey's.
During all the activity, if you decide that you would like to enjoy a good meal all the restaurants circling the Square will be open and there will also be food stalls in the area for those who want to stay near the action.
Just before the stroke of midnight, Mr. Hayward will lead the countdown which will lead to the descent of a lighted 15-foot-wide onion from the flag pole in front of the Town Hall, and while that is happening a piper will be playing aboard the Deliverance .
Following, will be a grand finale of five minutes of fireworks.
Those attending the Square will be able to park for $1 at the St. George's Prep field, and extra buses will be on hand.
*** The Chamber of Commerce will be wrapping up its month long late-night shopping this Friday.
And those of you who are trying to avoid going into town this Saturday better be prepared for the last minute shopping crowd.
Although there will not be any major entertainment to end the annual event, there will be the usual children's activities such as face painting, fun castles, a ferris wheel and a fun train.
