Catalogue for healthy living unveiled
services for children.
Health and Social Services Minister Clarence Terceira introduced the catalogue, called Health for Success, at a Press conference yesterday.
The catalogue was created through the efforts of the "Health for Success'' committee and the Inter-Agency Planning Committee which is made up of 12 different Government departments and a number of community services.
It is divided into two parts, a list of services provided by Government to children and youth and services provided by the community and Government agencies who are part of the IAPC.
"I hope that schools and other agencies will find this catalogue to be a valuable resource in identifying services and support programmes to suit the needs of our young people,'' said Dr. Terceira.
The Health for Success committee was formed in 1994 and is comprised of individuals from six different Government departments.
Betsy Baillie, a nutritionist at the Department of Health, said: "Health for Success is based on the rationale that healthy students are more likely to succeed.
"When we speak about health, we are not just talking about freedom from sickness we are talking about all aspects of health -- the physical, emotional, social, spiritual and intellectual dimensions of health and wellness.'' The catalogue has more than 70 services and programmes, ranging from Addiction Services to Youthnet.
