Govt. sues publisher
for unpaid social insurance.
The writ, filed September 11 at the Supreme Court with the Attorney General's chambers acting for the Minister of Finance, is for $45,430.
Bermuda Marketing publisher Ian Coles, who owns 40 percent of the company, said the writ stems from a personal dispute between himself and his ex-wife.
Stacey Coles, marketing director of the St. George's Club, owns 60 percent of Bermuda Marketing. Having just learned of the writ, she said it would inappropriate to comment at this time.
Mr. Coles also said that employees are not affected by the writ.
Though the magazine is successful, there are various business plans, as well as the payment of the debt, that cannot go ahead until the personal dispute is settled, he said.
"It's a very awkward situation.'' Bermuda Marketing recently opened an office in Tennessee to reduce operating costs and provide faster service.
The company also recently sold Island Property News.
