Ag Show survey skewed
Exhibition may not be as productive as originally hoped.
Department of Agriculture and Fisheries director John Barnes yesterday said responses to the survey, which took the form of an 11-question cut-out advertisement in a July edition of The Royal Gazette , were numerous and were still being tallied.
"We got a lot of them,'' he said.
But the surveys have shown that different sections of the community are mainly interested in promoting the events they prefer instead of the all-round aspect of the "Ag Show''.
Mr. Barnes pointed out: "The horse people want to make the Exhibition a horse show while the dog people want to make it a dog show.'' The July questionnaire asked for public advice on how to update the annual exhibition in time for next year and develop a Millennium theme.
It asked the public to identify which parts of the exhibition they did and did not enjoy and to give suggestions for improving everything from parking to trade tents.
