Trio welcomed to the bar

Mr. William Chernenkoff, Mr. William McDonald and Mr. Marten Collins all work at Appleby, Spurling & Kempe and have notable backgrounds in the area of corporate law.

Mr. MacDonald, a Canadian, gained a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Toronto before gaining a law degree with distinction at the University of Western Ontario.

He worked at several law firms in Canada, specialising in corporate and securities law. In 1984 he was called to the Toronto Bar.

Fellow Canadian Mr. Chernenkoff will soon go to Hong Kong to work at Appleby, Spurling & Kempe's office there.

After getting a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and a law degree from the University of Alberta, Mr. Chernenkoff was invited to lecture in the Republic of China and in Japan.

He was a foreign associate in a Japanese law firm before coming to Bermuda and speaks French, Italian and Russian.

Mr. Martin Collins has worked in the trust department at Appleby, Spurling & Kempe since 1988.

He studied law in England and was admitted as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of England and Wales in the early 1970s.

In 1974 he went to Canada where he worked for a number of prestigious companies, including Canadian General Electric before coming to Bermuda in 1988.

All three attorneys wished Chief Justice the Hon. Sir James Astwood well on his upcoming retirement. They thanked friends and families and their colleagues at Appleby, Spurling & Kempe for their support.
