CPA looking for a new Secretary-General
new Secretary-General who will take the post on January 1, 2002.
The post is currently held by Arthur Donahoe, QC, who was in Bermuda last month for the CPA's 12th annual seminar.
The CPA is the parliamentary wing of the Commonwealth and brings together some 15,000 Commonwealth Parliamentarians from more than 164 Parliaments and Legislatures in 51 of the 54 Commonwealth countries around the world.
The Secretary-General heads a staff of 14 and reports directly to the CPA's Executive Committee.
He/she is the CPA's chief executive officer and is primarily responsible for the overall promotion of the Association's activities and administers its affairs and manages the staff of its London-based Secretariat.
The successful applicant will be someone who has demonstrated leadership qualities and will have an extensive knowledge of Commonwealth and parliamentary affairs.
The appointment will be for a five-year contract period from January 1, 2002, and the salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will not be less than 70,000 per year.
In addition, an overseas allowance of 15 percent of the gross salary will be paid to a successful applicant from outside the British Isles. A non- contributory pension plan and health care insurance are also provided.
