His innings of 116 led Buckhurst to a 37-run victory over Leigh CC in their Essex County League game. Scores: Buckhurst 248, Leigh 211.

Gibbons' innings lasted 128 minutes and included 15 fours, beating his previous high scores for the team of 78 and 67 not out.

The Bailey's Bay and Bermuda international also turned in a solid bowling performance taking six wickets for 79 off 23 overs with six maidens.

For Leigh, former West Indies Test bowler Patrick Patterson, the club pro, had the best bowling figures of eight for 65. Gibbons was his last victim, when he was clean bowled.

On Sunday against Basildon CC in another league fixture, Gibbons and Buckhurst were not so fortunate as they were trounced, this time with the Bermudian making just three runs. Scores: Buckhurst 104, Basildon 106-1.

Today Gibbons will be involved in his biggest game to date when the professionals from the Essex League take on their counterparts in the nearby Middlesex League in a London League Association Club knockout three-day game.
