And yesterday the 22-year-old was fined $500 in Magistrates' Court for fraud.

Taalib-Din, described as an "exotic dancer'', organised the party for October 18 last year.

Sgt. Earl Kirby, prosecuting, said she had made arrangements with Mr. Dennis Carter, the club's operations manager.

It was agreed that $900 would be paid -- $800 for drinks, and $100 for securities, said Sgt. Kirby.

"Services of the club were offered free of charge,'' he added.

Sgt. Kirby said at about 9 p.m. on October 18 Taalib-Din handed over a $1,100 cheque for the party.

She was given $200 change, and the club tried to put the cheque in a deposit account, Sgt. Kirby explained.

But it emerged that a Mr. Tuzo, who had made out the cheque, had put a stop payment on it.

Sgt. Kirby said Taalib-Din had "arranged'' for Mr. Tuzo to cancel the cheque before it was honoured.

He added that Inter Rest Management Ltd, trading as Scandal Night Club, had still not been paid for the party.

Taalib-Din, of North Shore Road, Pembroke, who admitted obtaining credit by false pretences, apologised for an earlier plea of not guilty.

She told magistrate the Wor. John Judge she intended to reimburse Inter Rest Management.

After the hearing, Sgt. Kirby said the company would seek reimbursement through civil proceedings.
