bail when he appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Willard Burch, of Dundonald Street, had earlier denied driving while impaired and driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his system. And yesterday he maintained his plea.

But he told Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis he had forgotten about his trial which was scheduled for April 2.

"It looks as though in order to make sure that you keep your mind on this and don't waste your time or mine, I'm going to have to set a sizable bail because you were bailed at $300 to show up on the second,'' Mr. Francis said.

Burch was ordered to find someone to be a surety for his $600 bail, and to pay the court the original $300 bail by Friday.

He was also ordered to pay fines totalling $1,200 for a list of traffic offences.

He was fined $150 for driving on Kindley Field Road last November with no driver's licence; $150 for using an unlicensed car in Warwick last September; $150 for not having a valid driver's licence; $300 for not having third-party insurance; $200 for putting on the car a licence sticker which he "found''; and $250 for five parking tickets.
