again at the Lobster Pot -- just weeks after a major heart operation.

Popular Mr. Edwin Robinson is hoping to be back behind the bar -- at least on a part-time basis -- providing final tests are successful next month.

The 69-year-old father-of-14, known by most of his friends and regulars as "Chicken'', underwent a triple bypass operation just eight weeks ago.

Mr. Robinson has worked at the Lobster Pot for 20 years, and has another 30 years in the business behind him. He was once owner of the bar at Shelly Bay Beach.

He is a great grandfather, with seven sons and seven daughters, 39 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In early July this year he suffered a mild heart attack at home and had to give up work while he received treatment.

"I went to see my doctor and he discovered a blockage in one of the arteries leading to my heart,'' recalled Mr. Robinson.

"He contacted the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and I went there just before Cup Match.'' On August 8, Mr. Robinson went into surgery where it was found he had more than one blockage so the triple bypass was carried out.

Four days later he suffered a setback when blood clots appeared in his legs.

This meant another six days in Baltimore.

"Although it was frightening when I realised I had had a heart attack when I got to Baltimore, the doctors put me at ease. They are experts and they explain everything that is going to happen. They were so confident I could not help but feel safe in their hands. After all they carry out two operations like this every day.'' Mr. Robinson has had one setback when he suffered a gall bladder problem, but since then things have been fine and he now looks forward to his test on November 5, and the all-clear to begin living a normal life again.

"I don't think I will be able to work full-time again but I should be able to do some part-time work particularly over Christmas when people take vacations,'' he said.

"I love working behind the bar at the Lobster Pot. I can honestly say I am fortunate to be one of only a few people who enjoys his work. I like to meet people.'' CHICKEN'S BACK -- Barman Mr. Edwin Robinson outside the Lobster Pot restaurant where he has worked for 20 years.
