month in 1996 -- a slight increase over the February rate of inflation of two percent.
The clothing sector posted the largest monthly increase of 0.9 percent as new stock for the spring and summer seasons was introduced into the stores.
But a seasonal drop in airline fares, plus a reduction in the cost of gasoline, meant the transport sector saw a 0.6 decline.
Both the rent and education, recreation and reading sectors edged up 0.3 percent while health and personal care rose 0.2 percent.
The food sector dipped by 0.1 percent due mainly to a fall in the price of fruit and vegetables.
