Hundreds of students are expected to attend a careers fair tomorrow in the City of Hamilton.

More than 50 exhibition tables will be set out comprising of companies from the world's of insurance, banking, accounting, advertising, journalism and health, along with numerous Government departments, Police and Customs.

The event has been organised by Government Training and Employment Services, the Rotary Club of Hamilton and The Royal Gazette.

It will be held between noon and 7 p.m. at Number One Shed on Front Street and anyone looking for more information on possible careers is invited to attend.

W A (Toppy) Cowen, of the Rotary Club, urged parents and students to attend the fair to find out what was on offer in the world of work and further education. He said: "We were asked to do what we could and felt this was something we should support. We can certainly see the importance of young people determining what their career is going to be in the future.

"We were enticed and excited to be involved and think it's going to be a huge success. This is an opportunity for hundreds of young people to come and find out what's available out there.

"There is certainly no obligation. It's purely an opportunity for young people to find out more about different careers, and how they go about entering them.

"We will have everything from tourism to nursing, aviation to utility services - young people have nothing to lose."

Some colleges from Canada could also be at the careers fair, who are interested in selling themselves to students in Bermuda, along with representatives from Bermuda College.

And Mr. Cowen said if this year's event was a huge success there was no reason why it could not be repeated next year.

As a special treat, people who attend will be entitled to enter a free prize draw for a Yamaha V50 motorcycle, which has been donated by World Distributors, BF&M, and Island Wide Security. There will also be free hourly prize draws for people to take part in.
