at the Devonshire squash courts on Sunday.

Twelve-year-old Andrew gave the Robinsons a 3-0 lead with a win over fellow Saltus student, Michael Shrubb, in an exciting 15-13, 15-9, 15-11 encounter.

Father Bruce then only needed to win one game against Shrubb's partner, Mel Caines, to clinch a team victory.

That triumph looked fairly straightforward as Caines had to claw back a 20 points per game handicap deficit, and Robinson led 14-10 in the first game.

But Caines remained patient during the next five rallies, manoeuvring Robinson from corner to corner and waiting for the inevitable tired mistake which gave him a 15-14 win.

Caines then continued with this tactic to win the next two games 15-8, 15-13 which put the team score level at 3-3.

The boys entered the court again to settle the match in a one-game decider.

Shrubb served at 0-6 (handicap difference) and a close, seesaw contest ensued.

At 8-8 after a number of unforced errors, Robinson began taking the ball earlier and concentrated on hitting length.

This strategy paid off as it kept Shrubb on the defensive at the back of the court. And despite a big effort from Shrubb and a saved match ball at 14-8 down, Robinson clinched the decider 15-9.

The younger Robinson received a $500 mutual fund voucher for educational purposes from Mark Melvin of Bermuda Investment Advisory Services Limited (BIAS).
