Masters to sell MacPherson paint
to Masters at the end of the month.
Masters will sell Macpherson's paint products on a commission basis from its hardware store on Dundonald Street, in Hamilton.
The deal will enable Masters to move into the paint tinting business through the use of a $40,000 computerised machine which mixes paints from a series of base colours.
The deal will also allow Colorflex's owners, Bermudian Mr. Ramadhin Smith, and his European wife, Nathalie, more time to go out and market Macpherson's products.
Mr. Smith said: "This is something we have wanted to do for a while. We looked around and decided on Masters because of its track record for offering quality products at reasonable prices.'' His wife said: "It can only boost sales. This is a good deal for both of us.'' Six Masters employees have been trained to use the mixer.
Colorflex has the exclusive rights in Bermuda to sell the products of British-owned Macpherson's.
Colorflex opened its paint centre -- located opposite the Ram's Head pub -- about a year ago.
When the centre closes down, the company will be run from Mr. and Mrs. Smith's home, which is where it was run for several months before the centre was opened.
"We will have gone full circle,'' said Mr. Smith. "But this is a good move for us because time we have normally spent in the store can now be used for marketing our products and services.'' Colorflex also sells roof products and fireproofing for structural steel. Mrs.
Susan Wilson, president of Masters, said: "We will not be dropping any of our existing paint lines to accommodate Macpherson's.
"Masters is going into the mixture colour business at an extremely sophisticated level with a product out of the UK which has certainly enjoyed a good reputation through Ramadhin's efforts.
"The system that Macpherson's has is precise, easy-to-use and quick.'' PAINT DEAL -- Mr. Ramadhin Smith and wife Nathalie.
