Stowe launches electriacl business
battle to reduce energy waste.
Mr. Michael Stowe is spearheading a new family firm, Stowe Electrical Services Company Limited, out of his Forest Hills, Warwick home.
Mr. Stowe, who helped formulate and put in place the National Drug Strategy, and who honoured a personal commitment to Premier Sir John Swan to remain in public service four months past his expected tenure, believes the average household can make significant reductions in energy costs.
"Over the course of a year, the savings will add up,'' he said.
The firm provides services to residential customers ranging from minor insulation repair to major re-wiring efforts.
But Mr. Stowe sees efficient energy utilisation as a central issue for the family of the nineties and says that more and more consumers are concerned about energy costs.
"It's the portion of the business that will show the most significant growth potential,'' he said. "We are identifying manufacturers and their energy management systems right now.'' The firm hopes to have a product line for distribution by June, and has started by offering re-wiring services, with emphasis on residential work.
After a year in the planning, Mr. Stowe is joined in the firm by his wife, Mrs. Ianthia Stowe as vice president, sister Ms Patricia Stowe as company secretary and nephew, Mr. Zane Stowe, as director.
Mr. Michael Stowe assumes the position of managing director and president, after more than twenty years in the electrical and electronics field. He explained his decision to avoid commercial and industrial contracts by noting that the current market is for residential work.
The Minister for Community and Cultural Affairs, the Hon. Wayne Furbert, hosts a ceremony tomorrow morning at his Ministry, to officially open the business.
