Company introduces system for reducing business paper
is sponsoring a free, educational seminar series this week on Document Automation for Business in conjunction with Trilogy Associates, Inc. of Pennsylvania.
A spokesman for Open Systems said: "Paper intensive industries such as services, manufacturing and government that cry out for paper relief now have a high technology solution called Document Imaging.
"From a layman's point of view, imaging simply involves using the electronic representation of a document on a computer screen rather than the paper document itself.
"Aside from the obvious benefit of eliminating tedious paper shuffling, imaging saves space -- original documents may be stored off site or disposed of altogether -- and time.
"It has been estimated that a typi cal worker in an accounts receivable operation takes 12 minutes to process a document.
"Of those 12 minutes, nine are spent searching for, retrieving and refiling the document, while only three are spent processing it.
"By eliminating those nine minutes, imaging drastically reduces the amount of the time required for non-productive operations -- in this case by 75 percent.
The first of the two part seminar series is being held tomorrow and on Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Princess Hotel, Pembroke.
Guest speakers for the event will be Mr. Gene Fodors and Mr. Howard Gordon, Principals of Trilogy Associates and specialists on Document Imaging and Office Automation.
