Regimental Police officer gets booted for strip show

military unit after he hosted a strip show at the Corporal's Mess following recruit camp in January.

The junior non-commissioned officer, who is also a Regimental Police Officer, violated sections of the 1965 Defence Act when he organised the event at Warwick Camp.

Regiment Adjutant Capt. William White said the man did not fund the event using the $11,000 allocated by Government to the Messes for recreational activities.

"We have a section of offences (in the Defence Act) and that (event) fell firmly under (improper) conduct. It was just unfortunate,'' said Capt. White.

He dismissed claims the event was an official tradition and other personnel were involved.

As a Regimental Police Officer, or RP, the soldier in question was held to a high standard because he functions as a Police officer within Warwick Camp.

During times of national crisis, the RPs role can expand to assist regular Police officers.

RPs are normally seen by the public when they are escorting long-term "runners'' back to Warwick Camp for prosecution or standing guard at Warwick Camp's gate.

The Government yearly allocates approximately $11,000 to the Officer's, Sergeant's and Corporal's Messes for recreation.

No money was allocated to the Private's Mess in this year's Budget.
