Triathlon keeps Kent busy
business.
But after racing in three US triathlons over the past month and with another one coming up in two weeks, the former champion waterskier is dividing his energies these days.
Richardson arrives back in Bermuda today, three days after finishing 16th overall in the Cypress Gardens (Florida) Sprint Triathlon and two weeks after taking 26th in his age group at the St. Anthony's Olympic-distance Triathlon.
He posted a time of 47 minutes and 30 minutes in finishing second in the 35-39 age-group in Cypress Gardens, an event that featured a three-mile run, nine-mile bike and 1/4-mile cycle.
But Richardson says he much prefers the longer distances such as the St.Anthony's, held in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Stticken by the 'flu, Richardson was 200th out of 1,700 total competitors after posting what he called a "very disappointing'' time of 2:15:40, some ten minutes off of his expectations.
Richardson has been training full-time this past winter with top professional Alec Rukosuev, who won the St. Petersburg race.
He'll rejoin his training partner in Memphis, Tennessee, for a triathlon on May 17 but in between Richardson is hoping to squeeze into the lineup for this week's Bermuda Grand Prix cycle race.
