Woman denies lying about father
with allegedly making false child support claims.
Showers, represented by Sen. Lawrence Scott, pleaded not guilty to three counts of perjury involving making a false statement on oath last June 22 that she had given birth to three children and only one had survived, making false statements asking for periodic child support payments, and falsely saying last August 1 that she had given birth to a boy who now lived abroad.
She also denied making a false entry in the Register of Births last June 2 saying she had given birth to the said child.
And she denied attempting to obtain property (periodic support payments) by false pretences on or about last June 20 by pretending that Barry Showers was the father of her child born last June 2.
She was bailed for $1,000 plus a surety and told to appear for mention on May 5.
