Courses in debt collecting are to be offered by Bermuda College.

Training and Development Coordinator Dr. Leonard Santucci said: "Billions flow through our economy.

"We are a society that functions more and more on credit use and credit cards.

"But this is about what happens on the occasions when people exceed their financial means.

"It will help agencies and people responsible for debt recovery.'' Aspects covered will include the psychology of asking for payment and phone skills for collectors.

Dr. Santucci explained: "If you are a sales person you have to determine how to pitch a sale.

"Here the person in debt is still the customer who needs to be serviced. You must engage that person.'' The first of the three debt collecting courses starts on April 24. To register or get details call 239 4027.
